The United Way London & Middlesex recently held a youth roundtable that created good opportunities for conversation between 60 or so youth and Governor General of Canada David Johnston.

As part of the Governor General’s Smart & Caring Nation initiative and his task force on volunteering and philanthropy, youth engaged in their community through work in local organizations and project spent the day talking about volunteering, philanthropy and community building. Their thoughts and recommendations will be included in the final report of the task force on volunteering and philanthropy.

Emanuela Bringi of our National Youth Advisory Board attended the event, finding it both inspiring and empowering. Click here for a feature in the local press, or follow up on the Voices blog in the near future for her take on the experience.
